Dear: AltiMax customer:

Transport Canada has announced changes to existing pilot fatigue & duty time regulations that will come into effect in 2020.  These new regulations will have a massive financial impact on all air carriers in Canada including not only passenger airlines but also all cargo airlines. These changes will come at a massive cost to air carriers as they will have to hire & train many more pilots to insert in their fleets in order to be legal in following the new rules. In order to prepare for this change, air carriers have already begun hiring/training additional pilots and acquiring rest facilities for pilots along with initiating retention programs to deal with the current pilot shortage that will only be further impacted by these new regulations.  These additional costs have resulted in the necessity of our air cargo airline suppliers to impose a pilot fatigue surcharge (PFS) on us as an air cargo carrier who utilizes their services. Unfortunately this makes it necessary for us to apply this new surcharge as a pass through cost to our air freight customers as follows:

Effective January 1, 2020 there will be a Pilot Fatigue Surcharge (PFS) of 2.8% applied to all air freight shipments moving in our system. This PFS surcharge will increase to 5.6% as of April 1, 2020.
